I'd like to rent this really soon. Have any of you seen it? If so, what did you think?

Yeah, it's great. Well-made for a tiny budget. Turn on the subtitles, because all the kids talk like Raymond Chandler and it can be tough to understand them until you get used to their vernacular. They basically took a '40s noir tale and set it in high school.

one of my favorite movie. seriously. watched it like ten times. joseph gordon-levitt is genius. one of the best young actors in my opinion. rian johnson, the writer/director, does an amazing job.

smart, funny, heavy, and clever. rian johnson has another movie coming out next year i believe. forgot the name but it should be great.

The Brothers Bloom, yeah it looks pretty good. That's what actually got me interested in this one.

Just watched Brick. Was interesting. The comment about the dialog was right. I think I'm going to watch it again before I return it.

Really liked the soundtrack, some of the cinematography was great. Definitely reminded me, in some ways, of my own high school experiences. The way the character Brendan looks, especially, is not something you see often in movies. Especially not for a main character.

Ah, that's cool. Also the messy looking bangs and the glasses... you don't find protagonists that look like that often.

Actually, that was one minor gripe that turned me off the movie when I first saw it. I just didn't buy his character as being hard-boiled. This would be a kid fighting off wedgie attacks, not taking down kingpins. Yet I loved how they flipped the script with the frail villain.

I've since come to accept it.

When you see him before he broke up with Emily, cleaned up and not so nerdy, when he was more a part of that world, that's what helped me with him later. I figure he let his hand grow and didn't care as much about his appearance anymore because he lost his girlfriend, and was just sort of in that... depressed state.

But yeah, was interesting that the Pin was so... haha, I mean the scene where they're sitting at the table and his mom's pouring him orange juice. That's priceless.

Wasn't he wearing corrective shoes also? And the cape. . . We need to bring the cape back into vogue.

the pin is genius.
that quote from the movie is the most memorable in my mind. i rewond (is it rewond or rewinded?) the movie after he said that because i thought i misheard him. too funny.

bah, i have no idea why i left a 'u' out of that foul word. whatever.

but, yeah, the pin, priceless. brain was another highlight for me. also, the only actor who was actually high school aged when they made the movie.
