I just made the ugly face.

That happens when I go to a site that advertises plot generating software.

Any thoughts on that kind of technology?

Plot generating software? Haven't had any experience with it... what exactly does it do? List possible plots for you to use for stories?

I guess. Or it takes where you're at and gives you options. Mostly likely though, it probably just takes the basic form of your story and tells you how to build conflict, the old safeties like: every chapter must end in disaster.

They can keep their Tom Clancy/Clive Cussler/John Grisham stencils. I don't want 'em!

Same here. I'm not worried about the software though. I don't think it will be deceiving any "real" writers, if you know what I mean. I imagine the software's trying to grab the group of people who are still desperately seeking for that secret hidden trick to writing a bestseller novel. That one, easy thing that all publishers authors have found... because there has to be an easy answer to everything, right?

For better or worse, actual reading, writing and revising is still probably the safest way to write a good novel. I will admit though, I sometimes wonder though if there's a special ring in hell reserved for those that try to cheat writers, musicians, actors, artists and others out of their dreams with all of their scams. I'm talking about fake agents, nonexistant "record companies", fake producers, the "bad" vanity publishing houses, all of those types of people & things.
