What Are You Working On?

Postby rainbowsheeps on Thu Jun 05, 2008 3:51 am

Use this thread to post the works that you've been working on, or plan to work on. Give the title, type (novel, short, poem...) and tell us what it's about.

Update it whenever you start or plan something new.

Valentine - a novel
Nineteen year old Adam has just failed a suicide attempt. He tries to win back the trust of his broken family, including his five year old sister Evelyn, while attending therapy sessions with an ambitious young psychologist named Richard White. One day, he meets Cherith, sweet and seventeen and diagnosed with cancer. They fall in love, and as her cancer takes over, Adam slips into horrific nightmares of other worlds. His mind torn apart by visions and the torment of Cherith’s deteriorating condition, he seeks to find some place in the afterlife where they can be together forever - and finds his dreams may just be the answer.

Six - short
A young man traverses through the chaotic streets of an apocalyptic Manhattan, hours before the world ends, to get to his apartment where his wife is waiting so they can die in each other’s arms.

Working on the current one, but also brainstorming new novel ideas. So far, it's a toss-up between which of these one will be next...

Sunshine Afterglow - a novel
Connor is a failed poet with an ailing memory. Locked in a mental facility under suicide watch, he's diagnosed with multiple personalities. He talks into a tape recorder, hoping to ignite memories of why he's there and what he's done. As his story unfolds, it becomes apparent that while a part of him is completely harmless, desperately in love with the girl he calls "Miss Memory", another piece of him is a violent psychopath. When a girl matching Miss Memory's description goes missing, detectives think Connor, or his alter identity, is responsible. They use his tape recordings, and the love poem that he writes on the walls and floor of his own cell, to incriminate him while a psychologist tries to help him. But as his memories continue to surface, a war is raged between two identities for control of Connor's mind while the fate of Miss Memory looks grimmer and grimmer, and Connor's guilt only becomes clearer in the eyes of the police.

The Scarlet Mist – a novel
Recently transferred detective Derek Faden tries to solve a string of child homicides. Looking for the most recently kidnapped little girl, he finds the whole city is run by a crime syndicate who happens to be protecting his lead suspect. After assembling a task force to detain the heroin addicted serial killer, the crime syndicate hits back, killing three off-duty cops and throwing Faden's life in danger. Blamed for the deaths and desperate for help, Faden seeks out Alexander Blair, a man once hired by police to quietly kill nefarious criminals who escaped conviction. But Blair is now retired, riddled with a debilitating depression on the 7th year anniversary of the murder of his wife and daughter. Alex agrees to find the little girl, but walks a dizzying line between bloodlust and psychosis. Once the first blood is shed, a war is raged between him and every criminal in the city: and to Alex, every life between his and that little girl's is all but indispensable.

If any of you guys think one sounds better than the other, or they both sound shite, lemme know.
